How Many Birds Will You Spot?

What is Birdathon?

Birdathon is Tahoma Audubon's annual community fundraiser that raises essential funds to support connecting people in Pierce County with nature and the preservation of local bird and wildlife habitats for future generations.

Birdathon is exciting, educational and fun! "Birdathoners" attend field trips and birding sessions and collect pledges and donations for finding and counting birds. We have prizes for our top teams and individuals and a summertime event to celebrate together. A minimum raise of $150 per Birdathon participant is requested, and participants from all walks of life from beginners to expert birders are welcome to join!

We hope you'll join us for the 2018 Birdathon!

1. SIGN UP! Create a new account and set up your personal Birdathoner or Birdathoner team page. Upload a photo of yourself, tell people which trip you're going on and add a personal note.

2. COLLECT PLEDGES AND DONATIONS! Share your Birdathoner page on social media, via email and by calling or asking friends and family in person to donate or sponsor you with a pledge per bird (for example, $1 per bird spotted).

3. GET OUT AND COUNT BIRDS! Our 2018 Birdathon field trips led by master birders have all been completed. But you can still organize your own trip or backyard birding session! Count as many bird species as you can on your field trip or in a 24 hour period in your backyard session anytime through May 31. Send us a trip report and post the results to your Birdathon page when you've finished!

4. CELEBRATE & WIN PRIZES. Birdathon promises to be fun, educational and rewarding! In a lighthearted spirit of competition, we'll be awarding prizes for Most Species Seen, Most Money Raised, Most Pledges Received, Rookie of the Year and Best Birdathon Photos as well as celebrating together at our mid-summer celebration.
