How Many Birds Will You Spot?

What is Birdathon?

Birdathon is Tahoma Audubon's annual community fundraiser that raises essential funds to support connecting people in Pierce County with nature and the preservation of local bird and wildlife habitats for future generations.

Birdathon is exciting, educational and fun! "Birdathoners" attend field trips and birding sessions and collect pledges and donations for finding and counting birds. We have prizes for our top teams and individuals and a summertime event to celebrate together. A minimum raise of $150 per Birdathon participant is requested, and participants from all walks of life from beginners to expert birders are welcome to join!

We hope you'll join us for the 2018 Birdathon!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. SIGN UP! Create a new account and set up your personal Birdathoner or Birdathoner team page. Upload a photo of yourself, tell people which trip you're going on and add a personal note.

2. COLLECT PLEDGES AND DONATIONS! Share your Birdathoner page on social media, via email and by calling or asking friends and family in person to donate and sponsor you or your team.

3. GET OUT AND COUNT BIRDS! Sign up for one of the fun and exciting field trips led by master birders and reserved exclusively for Birdathoners. Or, organize your own trip or backyard birding session! Count as many bird species as you can on your field trip or in a 24 hour period in your backyard session anytime from April 22 through May 31.

4. CELEBRATE & WIN PRIZES. Birdathon promises to be fun, educational and rewarding! In a lighthearted spirit of competition, we'll be awarding prizes for Most Species Seen, Most Money Raised, Most Pledges Received, Rookie of the Year and Best Birdathon Photos as well as celebrating together at our mid-summer celebration.
