OSPREY After-school Environmental Clubs

OSPREY  stands for

Opportunities for Stewardship: Promoting Respect for the Environment in Youth

We are three groups of dedicated youth who wish to protect our environment and teach others to enjoy the native habitats in their neighborhoods. We meet once a week throughout the school year to learn about our native habitats and to volunteer our time to complete environmental service projects in our schools and neighborhoods to improve the quality of life for our neighbors. Please visit our club websites below to see what were are doing near you!

Some insight from one of our original OSPREY Clubbers:

Why the name“Osprey” Club?

You might wonder why we call our little gathering of tree-huggers Osprey Club.  Osprey club was named by one of its founders who sometimes took care of wild animals who were injured.  Most animals could just come in, recover, and leave but the osprey was different.  The osprey could not survive in captivity, the walls enclosed not only its body, but also its spirit, constricting it till it flickered and died.  The mighty osprey simply could not live without the sensation of wind under its wings and acres of forest around it.  What better name for a nature club than an animal that could not live without it?
